Dr. Naseem A. Munshi, President and CEO
Dr. Munshi is the President, Founder and Chief Chemist at CTD, where she has
successfully grown and operated the company for more than 20 years. She has
had key involvement in the development of the novel materials that enable
CTD’s products to provide the outstanding benefits they do. Dr. Munshi’s
model for CTD is to develop novel materials and processes, and engineer them
into enabling products that alter market dynamics in many different industries.
As the primary inventor of CTD’s TEMBO® shape memory polymers,
Dr. Munshi has also seen her materials gain space-flight heritage through
recent space flight successes.
Currently, Dr. Munshi’s focus is on guiding CTD
towards a sustainable cycle of technology innovation, product
innovation, and product commercialization. In 2007 Dr.
Munshi was acknowledged for her success as an innovator
by being named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year
for Technology in the Rocky Mountain region. Dr. Munshi
earned a BS in Chemical and Polymer Technology and a PhD
in Polymer Science from the Polytechnic of the South Bank,
London.

Mr. Michael L. Tupper, Executive Vice President
Mr. Tupper has been intimately involved in the development, testing and manufacturing
of composite materials for more than 20 years. His current responsibilities
are focused on guiding the commercialization of products and technologies
developed by CTD into target industries and applications. His focus for commercialization
is to identify niche market applications where CTD’s products and technologies
impact market dynamics. Working with strategic partners, Mr. Tupper seeks
applications where without the use of CTD’s technologies or products
the application’s needs cannot be met. Mr. Tupper has also played a
key role in obtaining development funding for CTD to develop materials, technologies
and products.
Prior to CTD, Mr. Tupper worked as an engineer at General
Atomics in San Diego, California, where he participated
in a wide range of engineering activities with emphasis
on operation in extreme environments. Mr. Tupper earned
a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University
and is a registered Professional Engineer.

Dr. Mark S. Lake, Chief Engineer
Dr. Lake is the Chief Engineer at CTD, and leads the development of engineering
methods for the application of CTD’s innovative material systems. Dr.
Lake leads the efforts to develop new product areas, technologies, and products
at CTD including deployable structures for satellites, composite ship propellers,
morphing aircraft wings, medical products, and products for oil and gas industry.
In addition, Dr. Lake oversees the development of CTD’s engineering
and technical staff including hiring of key personnel, preparing the staff
to meet the required challenges, and guiding the engineering teams to success.
Dr. Lake is an internationally recognized expert in the
field of deployable spacecraft structures, and an authority
on nonlinear mechanics of composite and mechanically jointed
structures. Prior to joining CTD in 2001, Dr. Lake was
a Senior Research Engineer at the NASA Langley Research
Center. During his 20-year tenure with NASA, Dr. Lake advanced
the field of large space structures (including large deployable
RF and optical instruments) through analytical studies
of the mechanics of this unique class of structures and
the development and evaluation of advanced hardware concepts
for these structures. Dr. Lake received a B.S. from the
University of Illinois, an M.S. from Old Dominion University
and a PhD from North Carolina State University. |
