Cryogenic Testing Below Liquid Nitrogen
Specializing in All Temperatures down to Liquid Helium
- ASTM & SACMA Tests

- Mockup/Prototype Tests
- Custom Tests
- Quick Turnaround
- Test Plan Development
- Materials Expertise
- Post Test Analysis
When choosing a testing facility, your needs would best be served
by one with intimate knowledge and broad experience developing
and testing composite materials. CTD’s primary focus has
been the Development of specialized composite materials, adhesives
and insulation for cryogenic and high radiation environments. We
have the experience and expertise required to test materials in
or after exposure to harsh invironments - including cryogenic,
elevated, vacuum of space and radiation. Complete test programs
are supported with capabilities ranging from liquid helium to
elevated temperatures.
CTD
offers standardASTM and SACMA tensile, compression, and shear
tests as well as custom test developed provide needed information.
We are able to simulate deep space and cryogenic fuel temperatures
(4K to 77K) for satellite and launch components. Also available
are facilities and expertise for post-test micrographic inspection
and failure analysis.
These testing capabilities, proven in the development, validation
and characterization of CTD’s state-of-the-art new materials,
are available to test your materials.
CTD
can assist with:
- Development of cost effective test plans
- Test specimen configuration, selection, preparation, and
design
- Composite material design and development for specialized
applications
- New test method and/or procedure development
- Design and development of mock-up and/or prototype tests
- Failure analysis and subsequent material/ part redesign
Distinguished History
CTD
has performed high quality and accurate testing and data analysis
for numerous high profile projects including:
- Optical structures for the James Webb Space telescope with
NASA Goddard
- Composite, cryogenic tank material testing for NASA’s
Space Launch Initiative
- Insulation and magnetic prototype mockup testing for the
International Thermonuclear Experiment Reactor (ITER)
“Thank you. Great work and responsiveness.”
- Northrop Grumman,
“...thanks for the thorough engineering analysis.”
- Applied SuperConetics
CTD’s intimate familiarity with materials, their behavior,
and test methods
will ensure high quality testing and accurate results!
