Dr. Munshi has successfully grown and operated CTD since its founding in 1988. She has had key involvement in the development of many of the novel materials and products that CTD provides. Dr. Munshi provides the vision and strategy that guides CTD towards a sustainable cycle of technology innovation, product innovation, and product commercialization. In 2007, Dr. Munshi was acknowledged for her success as an innovator and entrepreneur by being named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Technology in the Rocky Mountain region.
Vice President, Finance
Lori Bass joined CTD in 2005 and is currently the Vice President of Finance. She is responsible for all administrative aspects of CTD, including accounting, finance, contract management, and human resources.
Vice President, Operations
Paul Fabian is in charge of all large scale manufacturing efforts with a focus on moving core technologies developed in research and development efforts at CTD to manufactured commercial products for use in industry. He also manages CTD’s Testing Services group. Mr. Fabian has over 25 years of experience in the composites industry, which includes virtually all methods of composite fabrication such as VARTM, filament winding, hand lay-up, pre-pregging, RFI, as well as in composite materials testing in extreme environments. He has extensive experience in composite electrical insulation, high temperature oil, gas, and geothermal applications, aerospace, composite tanks, cryogenics, and fusion & superconducting magnets.
Vice President, Business Development and Programs
Patrick Hipp leads CTD’s Business Development and Product Strategy areas, in addition to guiding CTD’s program execution. Mr. Hipp has over 25 years of composites experience and has been a business leader in the aerospace and energy industries. He has successfully led product development and research programs that leverage advanced material systems. Mr. Hipp has hands-on experience in all methods of composite manufacturing and tool design and has managed engineering teams responsible for the design, analysis and testing of advanced structures. In addition, he has experience implementing LEAN principles across all business areas to improve execution and customer satisfaction.
Alexi Rakow, Ph.D., P.E.
Senior Principal Engineer
Dr. Alexi Rakow leads the aerospace and defense programs at CTD, focusing on advanced, ultra-light deployable systems (e.g. booms, antennas, solar arrays). He brings over 10 years of experience in composite materials, structural design, finite element analysis, failure analysis, and R&D. He is author or co-author on multiple patents and has authored or co-authored numerous research publications and book chapters in the fields of structural health monitoring, aerospace structures, and failure analysis. Dr. Rakow has held adjunct lecturing positions at Santa Clara University where he taught graduate-level courses including aerospace structures and elasticity. He has also served as a faculty advisor for Aerospace senior design projects at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Senior Program Manager
Dr. Andrea Haight currently directs programs in materials development for electrical insulation, wear resistant materials, and lightweight composite tanks, as well as overseeing CTD’s Materials Sales Business Unit. Dr. Haight is an experienced chemist with over 15 years’ experience in polymer synthesis, resin formulation (light curing and conventional), specialty fiber sizing, composite fabrication and characterization, technical writing, quality, and program management.
